Alexis Aytekin – Psychotherapist
Alexis worked at Relationships Australia as a Couple and Family Therapist and is a skilled Individual and Couple Counsellor. As a Child/Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Alexis has specialist knowledge in understanding and treating children’s psychological distress. This approach informs her short-term, solution focused work in her private practice.
Alexis teaches Child Psychotherapy in the Master of Mental Health Sciences, Department of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University.
In her many years of working in Children’s Hospitals as a Social Worker, Alexis gained understanding of the impact physical health has on the psychological health of children and their families. Alexis has counselled many children and adolescents as Student Counsellor in Primary and Secondary Education DEECD, Catholic and Independent Schools including Methodist Ladies College and Melbourne Girls’ Grammar School. She also worked at Headspace and at Alfred Child Youth Mental Health Service.
Alexis worked at Beyondblue Clinical Adviser, National Education Initiative. Throughout her career progression Alexis developed a particular professional orientation toward caring for Educators and Health Care Professionals.
In her private practice, Alexis provides Adult Counselling, Couple Counselling, and Counselling for Children and Adolescents. Alexis offers Secondary Consultation to Educators, and Clinical Supervision to Allied Health Care Professionals and Monash University Master Mental Health Science Students (Child Psychotherapy Clinical Training Programme).
